There are several options for session payment, including the following:
Many of my clients elect not to use insurance to pay for therapy because of the limitations most insurance companies pose on coverage for mental health treatment (limiting number of sessions they will pay for, requiring a diagnosis in order for treatment to occur).
For clients pursuing the self payment option, I will be glad to discuss your payment plan during a free initial phone consultation with you. This initial consultation is an important way for you get the information you need to determine whether working with me is the right option for you.
I accept most Blue Cross / Blue Shield plans. I have listed some of the plans I accept below, however, this list is not exhaustive.
- Highmark Blue Shield
- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois
- Blue Cross Blue Shield of California
- Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Federal Employment Plan (FEP) BCBS
- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas
- Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Any other Blue Cross / Blue Shield plan covered by BlueCard program
If you have questions about whether I accept your plan, please contact me for a consultation or call your health insurance company to determine whether I am an in-network or out-of-network provider for you.
I am happy to provide you with documentation of your visits so that you can submit to your insurance for “out-of-network" mental health benefits, which may result in reimbursement from your health insurance company for some or all session fees. Please contact your insurance company to see if they cover "out-of-network" benefits for mental health care. If so, you'll want to work with your insurance company to understand the process and procedures involved for this type of coverage. In most cases, you will pay the session fee out-of-pocket and will be reimbursed a fixed amount by your insurance company after you submit documentation of the visit.
